[00] AI automation ROI calculator
Would automating this task with AI pay for itself?
Enter how much time a task takes today, how much of it AI could handle and what the system would cost to build and run. You get the hours saved, the net saving and the payback period, using your numbers, not ours.
- Uses your own figures
- Allows for review time
- Nothing stored or sent
What AI would do
Defaults are deliberately cautious. Few tasks can be handed over completely, and AI output still needs checking.
What it would cost
Both are optional. Leave them at 0 to see the gross saving only.
about this tool
How it works and what it assumes.
The calculator works out the time the task takes in a year, the part AI could take on, and what is left after people check its work:
- Hours on the task: people × hours per week × working weeks per year.
- Hours saved: hours on the task × share AI can handle, minus the review time (that figure × review %).
- Gross annual saving: hours saved × loaded hourly cost.
- Net annual saving: gross saving minus the monthly running cost × 12.
- Payback: build cost ÷ monthly net saving, shown only if you enter a build cost and the net saving is positive.
- 3-year net value: net annual saving × 3, minus the build cost.
Savings here are time freed up, valued at what that time costs. They turn into money only if the time goes to other work or avoids new hiring. The result is only as good as the inputs, so test the share AI can handle on a sample of real work before relying on it. The default figures are illustrative and change with the currency; replace them with your own. Nothing you enter leaves your browser.
